Sport Relief Mile – Helpers needed please!

The Sport Relief Mile events, including the Haverhill Mile, are taking place on Sunday 25th March. I am organising the Haverhill Mile event in partnership with Haverhill Leisure Centre, and it is shaping up to be a fun day. As well as the running events there will also be other games and activities for families to take part in. The event lasts from 11am until 3pm, and I need some helpers for either the whole of that time or just a couple of hours. You will most likely be asked to marshal the course, but I may need one or two people to help with on the day registrations. Please drop me a line if you are willing to help out.

Grand Prix

The first races in this year’s Grand Prix series are just over a week away. First up is the Cambridge Parkrun (5K) on Saturday 25th Feb, followed the next day by the Tarpley 10M and 20M races. Don’t worry if you aren’t able to take part in these events as there are plenty of other Grand Prix races throughout the year. Remember, you don’t have to do them all! Visit the club website (www.haverhillrunningclub.org.uk) for full details about the Grand Prix including race details, results and scoreboard.

Thursday 5K Time Trials

To help keep you all in shape and to help you measure your improvement we are going to start holding a 5K time trial on the last Thursday of every month, starting next week on the 23rd. During winter months these will start from the leisure centre at 7pm, and will use the railway walk 5K route. And after all that effort, why not reward yourself by joining us for a curry and a pint in the Drabbet!

London Marathon

I’ve booked the coach for the London Marathon on 22nd April. Details are the same as previous years i.e., pickup from the Leisure Centre approx 6am and collecting from Trafalgar Square approx 4.30pm. The cost will once again be £15 per person for the return journey and your friends and family are more than welcome to come along. To reserve your place(s) please could you give your payment to me in an envelope labelled with your name and the number of places.

Don’t forget next weeks talk by Nick Anderson over at Saffron Walden (Lord Butler Leisure Centre 8pm). Nick is a top drawer endurance coach with an incredible amount of knowledge. You would be mad to miss it! Find out more about Nick here http://www.runningwithus.com/blog/nick-anderson/
